How to Get Your CISSP® Certification

Here are the steps to become a CISSP:

1. Obtain the Required Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of full-time experience accumulated paid work in two or more of the 8 domains of ( ISC) ² CISSP CBK® . Applicants may receive an exception from the experience of one year with a regional university 4-year degree or equivalent or additional degree of ( ISC) ² list, which requires four years of approved full professional experience working part time direct security of 2 or more of the 8 zones of CISSP CBK.

3. Schedule the CBT Exam

 .   Create an account at Pearson VUE to schedule your exam. The CISSP exam is offered in English, French, German , Portuguese, Spanish , Japanese , Simplified Chinese, Korean, and visually impaired.
  .  Complete review the agreement proving the truth of his statements regarding professional experience and legally commit the accession of ( ISC) ² Code of Ethics.
  .  Review of general application questions .
  .  Submit the examination fee.

4. Pass the Exam

Pass the CISSP examination with a scaled score of 700 points or greater. Read the Exam Scoring FAQs.


5. Complete the Endorsement Process

Once you are notified that passed the exam, you'll need to subscribe to the (ISC) ² Code of Ethics and their application approved before the credential can be awarded. A form of guarantee to this effect must be completed and signed by an (ISC) ² professional who is an active member, and is able to demonstrate their certified professional experience. With the backup time limit, you must obtain certification within nine months from the date of your exam or become a partner ² (ISC). If you do get a certification or associate of (ISC) ² within 9 months from the date of your exam, you will have to retake the exam to obtain certification. (ISC) ² can act as an endorsement for you if you can not find a certified person to act as one. Please refer with approval guidelines for more information on the requirements for approval.


6. Maintain the CISSP Certification

Recertification is required every 3 years by meeting all renewal requirements, which include:

  .  Earn and submit a minimum of 40 continuing professional education ( CPE) credits each year of the certification cycle 3 years and a total of 120 CPE credits at the end of cycle 3-year certification . For CISSP containing one or more concentrations , CPE credits subject to the concentration ( s ) CISSP in computing the required minimum annual CPE credits for CISSP certification.
 .   Pay the annual maintenance fee (AMF) of US$85 each year of the 3-year certification for a total cycle
 .   Abide by the (ISC)² Code of Ethics
